Environmental Justice Committee (EJ) May Meeting [Confirmed]

The Environmental Justice (EJ) Committee of ANC3C meets online on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm. All are welcome to participate. No decisions are made at committee meetings. Please visit anc3c.org for updates prior to the meeting. The community is welcome to send suggestions for agenda items to the chair, Commissioner Roric McCorristin, at 3C04@anc.dc.gov.

  •  Discussion with Lance Kramer, producer of the documentary CITY OF TREES, about the film’s impact and the challenges of community-centered environmental justice work in DC

The ANC3C Environmental Justice Committee was created in 2023 and tasked with:

  • To act as a platform for public education and discussion about environmental justice by drawing on the expertise and experience of community members with policies relevant to climate, energy, nature, waste, and other pertinent topics;
  • To organize opportunities for the community to participate in direct action that benefits the natural environment in ANC 3C, such as community clean-ups in public spaces;
  • To help community members understand relevant District policies and the public services made available by the District government for taking action at the individual level, such as composting and recycling programs;
  • To make recommendations to the Commission, and to the District as a whole, on policies that have an impact on the natural environment in the neighborhood;
  • To explore opportunities for collaboration with other ANCs across the District on matters relevant to environmental justice;
  • Commissioner Roric McCorristin is chair, all ANC3C commissioners serve as members as well as community members.
